Knob and Tube Wiring

What is knob and tube wiring? Knob and Tube wiring, also known as K&T, used to be the standard for wiring houses and buildings. Way back in the 1880s, electricians would run single-insulated copper conductors through holes drilled in joists and studs. New installation of knob and tube wiring is severely limited in the US for specific situations, nowadays, but back in the 1900s, K&T was the least

AFCI vs GFCI What’s up with that?

What’s the difference between AFCI vs GFCI? GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) Monitors the amperage between the hot leg and the neutral leg. New Pool Wiring

WHEN WIRING A POOL, REMEMBER WATER AND ELECTRICITY DON’T MIX!  Whether you are wiring an above ground pool or an in ground pool it is required by state law to hire a licensed electrician.  This should be common sense but every year we are called by people who attempt to do their own pool wiring then call us when there’s problems.  Even worse is when an accident occurs and the homeowner’s insurance tells you they will not cover the loss due to no permit and no proof of installation by a licensed electrician.  Codes require specific grounding for the pool

Should I Own a Generator in NH?

Without a doubt!! Living in New Hampshire, many of us know just how important it is to have a generator in NH as backup power during power failures. With the crazy weather we get here, having snow isn’t out of the question in October or April. This year, we got off lucky, but last season wasn’t so fair. With no power for over a week, generator sales in NH went through the roof for both portable and permanent units, and the big-box stores didn’t have a single one available throughout New England.
